VFW Auxiliary

Standing with our veterans, service members and their families.

Who We Are

Our Post's Auxiliary was formed not long after Post #12108 was chartered in 2011, giving family members of local veterans a way to serve alongside the Post. Auxiliary members are connected by one thing in common: they're relatives of those who served overseas in a foreign conflict.

🤝

From community outreach to promoting patriotism, Auxiliary members stand with veterans, service members and their families.

🏆

What We Do

Our 12 National Programs

Our Auxiliary is part of the VFW Auxiliary National Organization. Everything we do here in Beatty falls under one of these 12 programs.

01

Americanism

Keeping patriotism alive. We celebrate patriotic holidays, teach respect and proper care for the U.S. Flag, and honor our POW/MIA veterans through ceremonies so they're never forgotten.

02

Auxiliary Community Outreach

Members roll up their sleeves and volunteer with other local groups and causes. If it helps Beatty, we want to be part of it.

03

“Buddy”® Poppy & VFW National Home

We hand out Buddy Poppies and support the VFW National Home for Children in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, which has been helping military and veteran families for more than 100 years.

04

Chief of Staff & Extension

Keeping Auxiliaries strong and starting new ones. This program makes sure each Auxiliary holds regular meetings, keeps its books in order, and has what it needs to keep serving.

05

Historian & Media Relations

Our memory keepers. We save our history in photos, memorabilia, news clippings and video, and work with local media to share what the Auxiliary is doing.

06

Hospital

Showing up where it counts. Members, families and youth volunteer at local hospitals, veterans' homes and nursing homes to spend time with the veterans there.

07

Legislative

Speaking up for veterans. We back the VFW's priority goals, support the VFW Action Corps, and encourage everyone to vote and contact their lawmakers on issues that affect veterans.

08

Membership

Growing our family. The VFW Auxiliary has more than 3,500 Auxiliaries across the country, and every one of them depends on new members stepping up to help.

09

Mentoring for Leadership

Passing it on. Experienced Auxiliary leaders are paired with members who want to learn more, so we respect our past, take care of today, and get ready for tomorrow.

10

Scholarships

Helping students pay for school. This program runs the Continuing Education Scholarship and promotes youth contests like Patriotic Art and Patriot's Pen.

11

Veterans & Family Support

Standing with veterans, service members and their families. That includes suicide awareness and prevention, and support for VFW programs like Unmet Needs and the Military Assistance Program.

12

Youth Activities

Getting kids involved. We sponsor youth groups and run the Illustrating America art contest and the Get Excited for the Red, White and Blue! national anthem singing contest.

🏠

Health & Happiness Fund

The H&H Fund supports the families living at the VFW National Home for Children in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, and the facilities the VFW Auxiliary has built there. Families there get housing, counseling, education, daycare and more. Auxiliaries all over the country, including ours, chip in to keep it going. Military and veteran families anywhere can call the National Home Helpline at 1-800-424-8360.

🌹

“Buddy”® Poppy

Since 1922 the VFW has handed out Buddy Poppies to remember those we've lost. They're put together by disabled and aging veterans in VA hospitals and veterans' homes, and every dollar donated goes to veterans' welfare and their families.
